Computer Networks & Software Systems

This 2nd year course prepares students for a career in a number of Information Technology areas. It is a further development of the first year Computer Programming & I.T. with CISCO courses and is suitable for students who already have good computer experience. The Course combines the software and technical computing skills needed in today’s challenging Information Technology workplaces. Students supplement their studies with work experience in a relevant area.

Computer Facilities
Pentium multimedia computers are used extensively in the four fully-equipped computer rooms. Students have access to the latest technology in printers and scanning machines. The College offers the use of a wide range of software - Microsoft Office, Tas Books, Visual Basic, Turbo C++ and Turbo Pascal. Students also have access to the Internet over a broadband leased line.


Career & Employment Opportunities
Successful students will have excellent career prospects in Information Technology fields such as computer programming, networking, web site design and technical support. Further study - successful students may also apply to DIT for entry into Year 2 of the B.Sc Degree in Computer Science.
