CEO cuts ribbon on Crumlin Kitchen

Jacinta Stewart, CEO, CDVEC joined the Principal of Crumlin College, Jacqui O'Sullivan to cut the ribbon on the main island cooker and officially launch the newly refurbished Chef Training Facility in Crumlin College on April 4, 2006. The Kitchen, which has a cooker island with work stations either side, a demonstration area and a cold room annex can comfortably accommodate 16 students.

Special guests at the launch included representatives from DIT, Cathal Brugha Street, Dundalk IT and employers from the Hotel and Catering Industry. Guests were treated to a sumptuous meal to celebrate the event. The buffet had an international theme and consisted of ethnic dishes to entice all palates. It was a food experience that leaves no one in doubt as to our student's capibilities as future aspirants to a Michelin Star!

Crumlin College has been training for the Catering Industry since 1979 when the College began assisting in the teaching of the Chef Day Release Classes for DIT, Cathal Brugha Street. Today's students follow the National Chef Apprentice course and continue their 2nd and 3rd year studies in DIT. Students on the Hotel and Catering Course take FETAC examinations and successful candidates go on to further training in DIT or IT's. Students may also seek direct entry to the Catering Industry. Work experience forms an integral part of these courses.
