Travel Agency Skills & Event Planning

This course explores the core tourism subjects associated with the travel agency, tour operator and event management industries. Students will gain practical experience and explore tourism topics, trends, and issues of the day. Those who are successful in this course may choose to enroll in our Level 6 Management & Marketing in Tourism course or go on to work in areas such as travel agencies, tour operator companies or tourism offices or the hospitality industry.

Hospitality with Tourism

This course explores today’s hospitality industry. Students will gain practical, hands-on experience involving elements of accommodation and food areas. This includes tourism topics, trends, and issues of the day.

Career Opportunities

Students who successfully complete this course will be prepared for opportunities in the hospitality industry.

Further Education

Students can also further their studies with Tourism Year 2 or the catering courses.

Management & Marketing in Tourism

This 2nd-year course is ideally suited to students who want to progress into the management & marketing areas of tourism. Students will acquire a variety of skills and knowledge in tourism, business & IT which will enhance their career prospects in the tourism industry. The course is a further development of the first year Tourism & Travel Studies course.

Career Opportunities

Successful graduates of this course can enter the employment market in a number of areas and at various management levels of the tourism industry.
 

Progression

Successful students may be eligible to apply to DIT for entry into Year 2 of a Degree Programme in Tourism (subject to approval).

Minimum Entry Requirements

Successful completion of FETAC Tourism Award or FETAC Business Studies Award (to include two Tourism Modules) or equivalent standards of education. All entry is subject to interview.
